Different designs of nerf bars
Nerf bars, also called step bars and running boards, are accessories made for trucks to give ease of access into the vehicle. It helps the passengers to easily come in and out of the truck and gives protection to vehicles body. These Honda running boards and nerf bars have four basic designs namely stainless steel, oval, wheel to wheel, and the black nerf bars.
Stainless steel nerf bars are the sturdiest and the most reliable type of side bars. This is made from the popular material which can last for quite a long time. This usually comes with a lifetime warranty because it can outlive the lifespan of the vehicle it is installed on. However, the lifespan of a stainless steel nerf bar is always dependent on how these are cared for. These are not recommended for vehicles that are constantly exposed to tracks with salt, like near the beach, because they can be easily corroded. Oval nerf bars, also called oval tube steps, are made a little wider than the standard Honda nerf bar. Their sizes usually range from 4 to 6 inches depending on the manufacturer. It provides an easier access to your truck and at the same time, it gives a newer look on your Honda vehicle.
The newer breed of nerf bars are the black nerf bars. Unlike the traditional nerf bars that have a mirror like polished finish, these nerf bars are made with black, satin like and high-gloss finish. It has a new mixture of powder coating that provides a tough finish made to endure rough conditions. For better protection of the nerf bars, some manufacturers have an under layer of e-coating and go through an acid dipping process to ensure better protection on these nerf bars. Another design for these nerf bars are the wheel to wheel. These are typically made of the same material as the standard nerf bars but just longer in length. It runs from the front seating row of the Honda truck to the rear wheel. This accessory is best for those truck owners who want an easy access not only to the inside of the vehicle, but also the truck bed, perfect for loading materials on your truck bed.
